Synopsis
This animated video uses music and images to go through all of the letters of the alphabet, listing the marine animals the Octonauts have met in the ocean.
It is a fun and engaging song that can be played back at slower speeds to help students learn the alphabet and discover new and interesting creatures.
This video would serve as an excellent resource to help students visualize the biodiversity of the ocean.
The fun visuals and characters will grab the attention of young learners.
Additional Prerequisites
It is helpful but not necessary for students to be familiar with the Octonaut and Vegimals main characters.
It would probably be helpful to set the playback speed to 0.75 or 0.50 in the settings menu, so that students can hear the names clearly and then sign along if they want.
Differentiation
After students have listened to the video at slower speeds, have them practice saying the names, then have them sing along.
Encourage students to discuss which animals they find most interesting with a partner and then have them draw or color pictures of their favorite animal.
This video would be an excellent resource to use for more advanced students to choose a marine organism to research further on their own or in the library as a class.
Consider making slides that have the names of each animal listed and a picture of the organisms to use as a guide or as a follow-up after the video.
