The survey helps students determine the location for their community project which will be continued in the next steps.
This resource gets students out into their community and taking action to fight climate change.
Students are empowered to use their investigative skills to explore locations of their choosing.
Additional Prerequisites
This is part of the Solve section of the Project Hero Soil Quest and it is recommended that students complete the prior steps before beginning this step.
The Virtual Student Guide is a video that explains the survey activity to students.
Differentiation
The Points to Ponder and Questions to Consider can be used for whole-class discussion, small group conversations, or individual written reflection.
Students can work on the site survey individually or with a small group.
Teachers should consider brainstorming a list of places students could explore in the community. Students should be encouraged to select a variety of locations for their site survey.
Connections can be made with social studies and geography classes because students will be constructing maps of the areas they explore in their community.
