Synopsis
In this media literacy activity, students will watch three short videos, one from the YEARS Project, one from the Environmental Investigation Agency, and one from True Manufacturing, on refrigeration gases and climate change.
The activity plan includes a variety of decoding questions that are designed to help students analyze the videos' goals and messages.
The activity plan provides decoding questions for social studies, English language arts, science, and media literacy classes.
A few example answers are provided in the activity plan.
Additional Prerequisites
Teachers must create a free account to access the resources.
Teachers will have to download the MP4 videos.
Differentiation
After completing the activity, science classes could work as fact-checkers and research HFC and F gases to compare their findings to the information in the three videos.
In English language arts classes, students could use the information in the three videos to write an article about the climate risks of using refrigeration gases.
