What You'll Learn

"This workshop is open to all K-5 teachers, and we encourage those teaching in Title I schools, Environmental Justice Areas, or the Gowanus watershed to join us. Public school teachers within these priority areas will receive a participation stipend.

Teachers can expect to explore the history of the Gowanus ecosystem, discover the wildlife that lives here, and investigate the importance of providing habitat within our urban spaces. We will also share a bit about GCC's vision of the Gowanus Lowlands that is currently in progress, as the superfund cleanup occurs and new waterfront properties take shape, including how teachers can use these spaces as places to visit with students. Teachers will review the resources provided not only during the trip, but before and after their visit with their students.
