Additional Prerequisites
Students should be familiar with how public opinion affects policy and what influences public opinion.
The educator should review the material before deciding on how to implement it with students.
Differentiation
This resource could be used for political science, media literacy, or environmental law courses to research which geographic areas "feel" differently about the issue of climate change.
Have students research their local district to see what the prevailing opinions are and then research another location in another state to compare and contrast.
The Yale Program on Climate Change Communication conducts scientific research on public opinion and behavior. They also engage the public in climate change science and solutions, in partnerships with governments, media, companies, and civil society.
